EAST MILLINOCKET – Carl Scott Hinse, 86, husband of the late Gloria (Monoco) Hinse, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, at a Howland health care facility. Carl was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Biddeford, the only child of Scott and Ludivine (Lozier) Hinse. After graduating from Stearns High School, Carl served in the U.S. Army for three years. After serving his country, he worked as a machinist at Great Northern Paper Co. for 42 years. Carl was an avid sportsman, enjoying years of fishing and hunting, especially with his son, Danny. They both were presented The Fin and Feather Club’s Adrian Batson Memorial Award in May 2009. He enjoyed gardening, producing delicious tomatoes in buckets. He was active in Boy Scouts, teaching Danny many outdoor skills. He was very proud of the fact that both his grandsons attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Carl was a member of St. Martin’s Council No. 680, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars Francis E. Elliott Post No. 4154 and Donald V. Henry Post No. 80 of the American Legion, all in Millinocket. Carl is survived by his son, Danny and his wife, Catherine, of East Millinocket; two grandsons, Christopher Michael Hinse of Bangor and Anthony Ryan Hinse and his wife, Alisha, of Windham; and great-granddaughter, Isabella Trace Hinse. In addition to his wife, Carl was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Catherine Hinse. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where the Knights of Columbus will conduct a prayer service 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev.
