ROCKLAND, Maine — Law enforcement officials made several arrests in the midcoast area last week on cocaine charges.

Isaiah Roscoe, 21, of Rockland and Adam Knowlton, 20, of Camden were arrested and charged last Sunday and Monday with two counts each of trafficking in cocaine after a months-long investigation.

“We were buying powdered cocaine from them,” James Pease, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency supervisor, said Monday. “Through our investigation, it was popping up that Knowlton was supplying [Roscoe] to resell.”

The cocaine, packaged in gram bags, was sold to people in Camden and Rockland, Pease said.

Knowlton was arrested in Knox County Jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges.

Roscoe had been in hiding in Brewer for about a month, Pease said. After Roscoe “reappeared” in Rockland, Rockland Police Department officials arrested him Sunday. He has since bailed out of jail, Pease said, while Knowlton was still in custody Monday.

Selling cocaine is a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.

The Belfast Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the investigation.

In a second drug-related bust, police arrested Jossilyn Robbins, 25, and Amy Ashley, 31, both of Rockland and charged them with aggravated trafficking of cocaine. The charges were elevated because both women had prior convictions for trafficking in cocaine, Pease said — Robbins in 2007 and Ashley in 2009.

Additionally, Robbins allegedly was selling cocaine in a drug-free zone located within 1,000 feet of the Ocean Street Playground, he said.

The two were arrested last Tuesday and Wednesday, and both are still being held at the Knox County Jail, according to Pease.

He characterized last week as an “average” one for drug-related charges, with just a few drug arrests.
