ORRINGTON – Leslie E. Grover, 74, died March 20, 2010, at his home. He was born May 25, 1935, in Bangor, son of Francis and Marion (Adams) Grover. Les operated L.E. Grover and Sons for many years. He was a member of Orrington Volunteer Fire Department for 41 years; 21 of those years he served as chief. He was a member of Maine State Firefighters Association, Penobscot County Fire Chiefs Association and Holden Snowmobile Club. Surviving are his wife, Joanne Grover of Orrington; his sons, Darrell Grover, Dan Grover and his wife, Dawn, Howard Grover and his wife, Peg, all of Orrington, Dennis Grover and his wife, Cindy, of Corinth and Michael Nelligan and his wife, Janet, of Holden; daughters, Rosemary Bent and Lorrie Jo Goodrich and her husband, Albert, all of Ellsworth; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Bean of Brewer and Ethel Oakes and her husband, Larry, of Orrington; brothers-in-law, Richard Stubbs and William Stubbs and his wife, Nancy, all of Bucksport; sisters-in-law, Judy Harriman of Orrington and Bonnie McBrayne and her husband, Jack, of Orland; nieces and nephews. The family thanks Orrington and Brewer Rescue for their help throughout the years. A service in celebration of his life will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 26, at East Orrington Congregational Church, with the Rev. Carl Schreiber, pastor, officiating.
