BANGOR – Athena Aloupis, wife of the late Peter Aloupis, passed away March 13, 2010, at her home. Athena was born May 19, 1917, in Haverhill, Mass., the daughter of Evangelos and Efstratia Nichols. She graduated from Edward Little High School, Auburn, and Bliss Business College. Athena was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and many other organizations during her lifetime. Athena and Peter owned the Pine Tree Restaurant in downtown Bangor for nearly 30 years. Yiayia – Greek for grandmother – is survived by her son, Vance; her daughter, Angela; her beloved grandchildren, Kristen, Evan, Vance Jr., Kira, Kaili, Kaici and Kaidi; and her sister, Rodanthe Nichols. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; brother, Stratton; and sister, Eurita. Services will be private for the immediate family.
