ROANOKE, Va. – Charles H. “Charlie” Puckett Jr., 79, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010. He retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force and later retired from the University of Maine. He was an avid golfer and an active member of Westside Church of Christ, Salem, Va. He was predeceased by his wife, Jessie Nash Puckett. He is survived by his children, Kathleen Francis and husband, Dennis, Laura Moore and husband, Tedd, Elizabeth Hovey and husband, George, and David Puckett and wife, Laurel; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Grimsley. The family appreciates the loving care of Friendship Retirement Community and Good Samaritan Hospice. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Oakey’s North Chapel, Roanoke, Va., with Dennis “Skip” Francis and Eddy Gilpin officiating, and military honors by the U.S. Air Force.
