Funeral Mass in Maine for oldest American

MADISON, Maine — A funeral Mass will take place in the central Maine town of Madison for the late Mary Josephine Ray, who was the oldest living American when she died on Sunday.

A Mass will take place Thursday morning at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. According to Giberson Funeral Home, burial will take place later in the spring.

Ray died at the Maplewood County Nursing Home in New Hampshire at the age of 114.

She was born in Canada and lived for 60 years in the Maine town of Anson before moving away following the death of her husband.
