LEWISTON, Maine — The Biddeford High School Tigers claimed their third state Class A hockey championship in four years, using late second-period goals 53 seconds apart from Brady Fleurent and Ethan Pratt to beat defending champ Waterville 3-0 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee Saturday night.

Matt Roy finished with 31 saves for 19-2-1 Biddeford while the Purple Panthers wound up 14-7-1.

It was the sixth time Waterville has been shut out this season.

Fleurent broke the scoreless deadlock with 2:42 left in the second period as he swept home a Craig Anton rebound during a goal-mouth scramble.

Derek Reny had swiped at the puck before Fleurent tucked it home.

Pratt made it 2-0 by beating Waterville goalie Ryan Cormier with a screened shot.

Trevor Fleurent added an insurance goal on the power play with 58 seconds left in regulation.

Cormier finished with 20 saves for Waterville.
