REV. ANTHONY R. ROTUNNO

ROCKWOOD and JACKMAN – The Rev. Anthony R. Rotunno, 80, passed away March 4, 2010, at Jackman Health Center. He was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of Ralph and Rose (Competillo) Rotunno. The Rev. Anthony served with the U.S. Air Force for three years. After graduating from the seminary and his ordination, he taught high school for 12 years. He moved to Maine and served at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Gorham, for three years, then joined the diocese, where he filled in for many years. He was assigned to Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville, and retired after serving 16 years. He is survived by two sisters, Louise Gahagan and Lucille Schimweg, both of Lancaster, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. A Rite of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville, with the Most Rev. Richard J. Malone, bishop of Portland, presiding. After cremation, burial will be in the spring at Rockwood Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.
