Taylor lifts UMF to NCAA tourney win

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — Erik Taylor recorded 22 points and 15 rebounds in leading the University of Maine- Farmington men’s basketball team to a 64-63 victory over Bridgewater State College in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament Thursday night.

The Beavers, making their first tournament appearance, move on to play 26-1 Williams College Saturday at 7 p.m. in Williamstown, Mass.

Andrew Dean scored 16 points for the Beavers and Eric Lelansky added 12 points. D.J. Gerrish recorded six assists and three steals and Josh Tanguay grabbed nine rebounds.

Nicholas Motta led Bridgewater State with 20 points, seven steals and four assists. Corey Connor and Judah Jackson both scored 10 points.
