Should Democrats pass the health care bill by reconciliation?

Congressional Democrats say they have offered to work with their Republican counterparts on the health care bill, and been rebuffed in their efforts to find common

ground. Republicans say Democrats haven’t offered any real compromises. Regardless, Democrats may move forward and pass the bill using a procedure known as

reconciliation. Is this the right move? Is it an end run around democratic principles? Or are the Democrats justified in using the procedure, since Republicans have used it when they held majorities, such as in enacting the Bush tax cuts?
