GUILFORD, Maine — A municipal spending plan of $1,084,412 will be decided by Guilford residents at the annual town meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 15, at Piscataquis Community Middle School.

“It’s a subsistence budget,” Guilford Town Manager Tom Goulette said Monday of the proposed spending plan, which reflects an increase of $28,312 over the current year’s budget. No wage increases are proposed for employees in the budget, he said.

Residents will decide the fate of Guilford Primary School, which SAD 4 has voted to close at the end of the school year. SAD 4 directors have voted to offer the building to the town. Voters will be asked to accept the building and authorize selectmen to determine its use.

Two selectmen, a school board member and a sanitary district director will be elected for three-year terms. In addition, voters will elect a sanitary district director for a two-year term and three library trustees.

The town meeting will follow a 6 p.m. public hearing on a Community Development Block Grant application for housing assistance that the town intends to file.
