Networking, speaking to be conference focus

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — Peer networking, negotiating, public speaking and assertiveness skills will be the focus of this year’s Women of Worth Conference.

The session will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at the Penquis Higher Education Center in Dover-Foxcroft.

Held on Administrative Professionals Day, the conference will include presentations, workshops and activities aimed at educating, entertaining and inspiring support professionals.

Tina Scheer, owner of the world-champion “lumberjills” Chicks with Axes, a traveling group of female lumberjacks, will be the speaker. Scheer owns The Great Maine Lumberjack Show, based in Trenton. Some may know Scheer from her time as a contestant on the popular TV show “Survivor: Panama — Exile Island.”

The WOW Conference aims to motivate, challenge, recognize and empower participants.

The conference cost is $35 per person and includes breakfast, lunch and a dessert buffet.

The fourth person from a company or organization attends free with three paid registrations. A limited number of scholarships is available.
