Should the state invest in preserving the Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway’s northern Maine line?

The MMA has filed notice of its intent to abandon its track from Madawaska to Millinocket. Should the state purchase the corridor to protect it for future use? Should MMA have retained ownership and waited for the economy to improve? Will there be a need for the corridor in the coming decades? In general, should the state step in to preserve all Maine rail corridors? What uses, other than for railroads, do the corridors

hold?
