OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — Authorities say a man pulled from the Atlantic Ocean off Old Orchard Beach has been identified.

Police on Monday identified the victim as 42-year-old Timothy Skaggs of Saco. The state medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy.

Officials say the man was spotted in the water at about 9 a.m. Sunday. He was pulled from the water about 15 minutes later but was pronounced dead soon afterward.

Detective Sgt. David Hemingway said police have not determined why Skaggs was in the water. He was wearing street clothes.
