OTTER CREEK – Nelson R. Sennett, 80, died Feb. 13, 2010, at Mount Desert Island Hospital. He was born June 12, 1929, in Meddybemps, the son of William P. and Ethlyn S. (Ward) Sennett. Nelson owned and operated his general construction business for 37 years. He was an experienced fabricator, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was past king lion of Mount Desert Island Lions Club, where he was a faithful member for many years. Nelson is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Sheila (Carter) Sennett of Bar Harbor; one son, Frank Sennett and wife, Rhonda, of Westbrook; one daughter, Leona D. Sennett of Bar Harbor; one sister, Janet Beckum of Zephyrhills, Fla.; one grandchild, Kyle Sennett of Cortez, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Sennett of Harmony; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Seth Sennett in 2003. Friends are invited to call noon-2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Bigelow officiating.
