DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — An assortment of prescription pills, hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia, along with a small amount of marijuana and what is believed to be cocaine residue, were confiscated late Monday afternoon from a Harvey Street home that police and neighbors had suspected was a “drug house.”

Dover-Foxcroft police arrested Joseph Taylor, 31, and Myles Antz, 27, both of Dover-Foxcroft, and charged them with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. They also charged Brandon James, 20, of Charleston with possession of a usable amount of marijuana. All three are expected to make their initial court appearances on the charges on March 22 in Dover-Foxcroft District Court.

The matter is under investigation and more charges may be filed, according to Dover-Foxcroft Police Chief Dennis Dyer.

Acting on information from local residents, who suspected drugs were being sold at the home based on the “stop-and-go traffic,” the Police Department had placed the home under surveillance.

“This was an ongoing problem in that neighborhood,” Dyer said Tuesday.

With the help of Investigator Dave Wilson of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department, Dyer placed the home under surveillance. A video camera helped capture the comings and goings of people to and from the house, Dyer said.

“In the 38 years I’ve been doing this job, I realized there was a drug problem in Dover-Foxcroft, and this just shows the citizens what is going on and that it’s moved to a higher level of drugs,” Dyer said.

“As a law enforcement officer, I feel we all have to work together to solve these problems and I commend the Harvey Street residents for coming forward with the information,” Dyer remarked. It is going to take a partnership with the community to help ferret out such illegal activities, he said. Anyone who sees suspicious activity should contact their local law enforcement officials, he said.
