Should those who attempt acts of terrorism on U.S. soil be tried in federal courts?

The Obama administration is being criticized for wanting to try terror suspects in courts

rather than by military tribunal. Are acts of terrorism different from criminal acts? How? If

Timothy McVeigh had tried to blow up an airplane, would he be tried in a criminal court?

Why or why not? What constitutes an act of war? Were the men who were responsible for

the rash of airplane hijackings in the 1970s terrorists in the same way that the 9/11

hijackers were?
