AUGUSTA, Maine — Central Maine Power Co.’s $1.5 billion plan to build and reconstruct 350 miles of transmission lines is about to be reviewed at a series of public hearings stretching over two weeks.

Expert witnesses will present testimony to the Public Utilities Commission for two weeks starting this week. Hearings are scheduled for Feb. 2-5 and 9-12 at the PUC’s Hallowell offices.

Central Maine Power has submitted plans for its so-called “Maine Power Reliability Project,” which calls for new construction and reconstruction of about 350 miles of 345 kilovolt and 115 kilovolt transmission lines and several substations.

Since the case was filed in 2008, more than 150 parties filed to participate in the case as intervenors.
