Route 100 crash sends three to the hospital

DETROIT, Maine — Three people were injured Tuesday night in a single-car accident on Route 100, which is also known as North Road.

Two victims were taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield and a third was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Little information about the accident, including who was hurt, was available Wednesday. Neither Detroit Fire Chief Donald Chute nor the Maine State Police responded to repeated requests Wednesday for information. A dispatcher for the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department referred questions to the Maine State Police be-cause they handled the investigation.

The accident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the vicinity of 221 North Road, according to Somerset County dispatcher logs. It was almost 10 p.m. before rescue personnel cleared the scene of the crash.
