The third annual Maine High School Girls Wrestling Invitational will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Gardiner High School.
Check-in begins at 2 p.m., with weigh-ins at 3 p.m. and matches slated to get under way at 4 p.m.
The tournament is open to any female wrestler who is on her high school’s wrestling team roster that was submitted to the Maine Principals’ Association.
Entry fee is $15 per wrestler.
Awards will be presented to the top four finishers in each weight class, as well as to top teams. Weight classes will be determined by matching up entries closest in weight.
Last year’s event included 54 wrestlers from 28 schools competing in 10 weight classes. Erskine Academy of South China scored 46 points to edge Mount Ararat of Topsham by two points in the team competition.

River City Rumble tonight
Here’s a reminder that Greater Bangor’s four full wrestling teams will battle for local bragging rights Wednesday evening at Brewer High School.
The Witches will host Hermon, Old Town and John Bapst of Bangor in the fourth annual River City Rumble, a series of dual meets to be held on two mats at the school’s gymnasium.
One of the four teams will become the first to win more than one Rumble. Brewer is the defending champion, while John Bapst won in 2008 and Hermon was the inaugural champion in 2007.
The River City Rumble is a final test for the teams before they head off to conference championship meets Saturday. Brewer will compete in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championships at Cony High School of Augusta, while Hermon, Old Town and John Bapst will participate in the Penobscot Valley Conference meet to be held at Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln.
