Can President Obama refocus his agenda?

The president has seen his job approval ratings dwindle to below 50 percent in the year since his inauguration. What went wrong?

Did his experience lead him to underestimate the partisan divide in Washington and the nation? Did he assume the Democratic majority in Congress would allow him to pass a health care bill? What should he do now that he does not have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate? Should he scale back his goals, or redouble efforts to accomplish them so voters see results? Will his approval ratings return when the economy rebounds?
