The population of Maine is about 0.4 percent of the U.S. population. We also use 0.4 percent of all U.S. energy, 0.6 percent of the petroleum, 0.5 percent of the gasoline, 1.0 percent of the diesel oil, 0.4 percent of liquefied petroleum gases, 0.2 percent of the natural gas, and 0.0 percent of the coal.
