Police: Spruce Head man took his own life

ROCKLAND, Maine — Police said Tuesday that the 19-year-old Spruce Head man who died of a gunshot wound Sunday night took his own life.

According to Rockland police detective Sgt. Chris Young, Josh Greiner had an argument with a female who was a resident at 19A Brewster St. in Rockland, and shot at the woman’s door several times.

The woman’s hand was grazed by bullets as she closed the door and further injured when the doorknob was shot off.

Greiner then entered the kitchen through the same door and shot himself, Young said.

The woman refused medical treatment.

Rockland police officers handled the incident with help from the Knox County Sheriff’s Department and Maine State Police.
