Presque Isle captures second straight cheerleading crown

CARIBOU, Maine — The Presque Isle Wildcats won their second straight Aroostook County League cheerleading championship Friday night at Caribou High School.

The Wildcats’ average score of 68.5 points after two rounds of competition gave them a three-point margin over runnerup Houlton (65.05). Central Aroostook High School of Mars Hill scored 61.4 for third and Caribou was fourth at 60.3.

Presque Isle’s team members are Meghan Boucher, Megan Byers, Kaitlin Calabrese, Naiomi Donovan, Paige Doyen, Brittany Good, Julea Neault, Lorraine Hughes, Jordyn Kinney, Mackenzie Lamoureux, Bethany Lord, Courtney Lyford, Michaela Powers, Miranda Thompson-Lovely, Bonnie Zeng. The Wildcats’ head coach is Jolene Kinney.

The winners of the specialized team categories are as follows: Team dance (Houlton), tumbling (CAHS), motions (Presque Isle), jumps (Houlton), stunts (Presque Isle) and spirit (CAHS).

Individual awards went to Brandon Murphy of Houlton and Miranda Lovely of PI in tumbling and Jordan Kinney of Presque Isle and Megan Jandreau of Caribou in jumps.
