Maine college guarantees 4-year degrees

The Associated Press

FARMINGTON, Maine — The University of Maine at Farmington claims the highest graduation rates in the UMaine System. Now, UMF is going a step further.

Campus President Theodora Kalikow has launched a new four-year graduation guarantee. The Farmington in Four initiative will be offered starting next fall to all incoming full-time, first-year students for whom graduating in four years is a priority.

The school pledges the completion of a Farmington degree in four years, or the remaining required coursework will be provided at no additional cost.

Farmington in Four enrollees and their faculty advisers create a four-year roadmap to graduation. That includes declaring a major at the right time and meeting with their advisers on a regular basis to discuss academic progress.
