Bangor appoints interim city manager

Bonnie Farrar sits with a cardboard likeness of her husband, Robert Farrar, during Monday night’s Bangor City Council meeting. Councilors officially appointed Robert Farrar interim city manager until a new manager can be hired to replace longtime City Manager Ed Barrett. Councilors decided in late October that they wanted to take the city in a different direction and asked Barrett to retire. He since has taken the post as city administrator in Lewiston. After explaining on Monday that Robert Farrar would be very busy as acting city manager, Bangor City Council Chairman Richard Stone presented Bonnie Farrar with the cardboard likeness, quipping that “Little Bob [would be] just as helpful around the house” as the real Bob.
