Destiny Worship Center’s Praise Team will sing at the annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King breakfast on Monday, Jan. 18, at the Wells Conference Center at the University of Maine.
The event, sponsored by the Greater Bangor Area NAACP and the university, is scheduled to be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Doors will open at 8 a.m. with the Praise Team performing from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Phil Ertha of York, Ala. He will examine the status of King’s dream in 2010. Ertha served as chaplain to the medical examiner office in Oklahoma City when the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building there was bombed on April 19, 1995.
The university’s female singing group Renaissance also will perform.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for students and children under age 12. To reserve tickets, call 581-1428.
The Destiny Worship Center Praise Team will join choirs from four Bangor congregations for a service in remembrance of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway.
Choirs from St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. Mary Catholic Church and St. John Catholic Church will join the All Souls Choir and singers from Destiny for the service. The guest speaker will be U.S. Sen. Susan Collins.
