BEALS – Lottie E. Beal “Aunt Lottie,” 85, passed away Jan. 5, 2010, at her home. She was born April 17, 1924, in Jonesport, to Edmund Leroy and Martha Octavia (Crowley) Alley. She retired from Jonesport-Beals High School after 27 years as the school secretary. She was a member of Beals Historical Society and Gideons International Auxiliary, and lifelong member of Beals Advent Christian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and youth group leader. She also sang in the church choir and played the guitar and piano. Lottie also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, telling stories, writing letters and playing the card game, Rook. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. In 1954, her husband, Clinton, became the caretaker on Head Harbor Island and she spent many summers assisting him. Lottie is survived by her sons, Ray N. Beal and Dana L. Beal, both of Beals; grandchildren, Dana Clinton Beal and wife, Jennifer, of Gouldsboro, Carmen M. Kallgren and husband, John, of Woodstock, Conn., and Stacey P. Beal of Beals; great-grandchildren, Clara Noelle Kallgren, Kaitlin Anne Beal, Jacob Clinton Beal and Clinton Daniel Kallgren; sister, Inez Beal of Columbia Falls; sisters-in-law, Iona Woodward of Jonesport and Etta Kelley of Augusta; special friends and nephews, Ernest Libby Jr. and wife, Myrtle, and Pastor George Woodward and wife, Iris and family; special niece, Marie Victory; cousins, Amanda Marcoux, Alverda Beal and husband, Stan, Genesta Beal and husband, Willis, and Cedora Alley; and special friend, Jeannine Beal. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Clinton L. Beal “Buddy”; and her brother, Edmund Alley Jr. Visiting hours will be held 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 9, at Beals Advent Christian Church, where a funeral service will begin noon with Pastor Joshua Blackstone and Pastor George Woodward officiating. Interment will be after at Sewall Field Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for a time of fellowship with the family after the service at the church parish hall.
