Ice skating rink opens in downtown Bangor

BANGOR, Maine — Bring your own skates and skate for free in Pickering Square.

Bangor Center Corp., in partnership with the city of Bangor, announced Tuesday that the Pickering Square ice rink has opened for the season.

The rink is between the city’s Pickering Square Garage and the Freese’s Assisted Living Center. Use of the rink is free for any community member.

Skating is at your own risk. Proper skating footwear is required. Benches are available for changing into skates. No athletic activity is permitted, including but not limited to ice hockey.

The city’s parks and recreation and public works departments will maintain the ice, and the rink will remain open as weather permits. Parking is available in the Pickering Square Garage, where the first two hours are free.
