BAILEYVILLE, Maine — Firefighters from Baileyville, Princeton and Calais responded early Monday morning to a fire in a building at Domtar.
The fire damaged a large building which housed machinery to feed bark to a boiler, company spokesman Scott Beal said.
“There was some damage to the structure itself,” Beal said. “No one was hurt.”
Beal said that during the winter storm over the weekend, a brief power outage knocked out electricity to the mill.
“This may have influenced the fire,” he said, when machinery was re-started. “A stray ember from the boiler could have started it.”
Beal said the fire was reported by employees about 4 a.m.
All firefighters cleared the scene by 7 a.m.
