AUGUSTA, Maine — A propane truck driven by a Brewer man overturned on Interstate 95 on Monday morning, prompting the closure of southbound Exit 109A.

Trooper Jeffrey Beach said the driver, Mark Doughty, 53, of Brewer, lost control of the truck about 4:45 a.m. after it hit a patch of ice and the truck overturned. There was no leakage from the truck but the southbound exit was closed about 5 a.m. The truck is owned by Maine Energy of Bangor.

Doughty was not injured in the accident, police said.

State police said the exit remained closed until shortly before 4 p.m. Monday to allow for unloading.

They said the closure did not affect commuters getting on the interstate from Western Avenue.
