MANCHESTER – Alton Christiansen, 83, passed away Dec. 26, 2009. He was born June 3, 1926, in Portland, a son of Louis and Ethel Caswell Christiansen. He graduated from Falmouth High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Having lived in Falmouth and Windham, he was the owner and operator of Moderne Rug Cleaning, Inc. from 1949 until his retirement in 1984. Chris was an avid outdoorsman who loved every aspect of the Maine woods. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his camp at Northeast Carry at Moosehead Lake. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather with dedication, kindness and sincerity. Chris was predeceased by his loving wife of more than 56 years, Beverly Christiansen; and sister, Lois Christiansen. Survivors include his son, Bruce Christiansen and wife, Debra, of Windham; daughter, Sandra Comeau and husband, Paul, of Winterport; sister, Jane Curtis and husband, Burton, of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren, Erica Christiansen of Casco and Rebecca Costa and husband, Jimmy, of Durham; stepgrandchildren, Kate Nicholson and husband, John, of Centerville, Mass., and Jon Comeau of Vail, Colo.; nieces and nephews; and a special friend and companion, Theresa Morrison of Winthrop. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Spring burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Falmouth.
