Bangor to fill board positions

BANGOR, Maine — The city of Bangor is seeking applicants to fill numerous positions on several boards, committees and commissions.

City Clerk Patti Dubois said the city historically has vacancies this time of year. It’s important for interested residents to understand, she said, that some committees have much bigger time commitments than others, and some require certain levels of expertise.

Vacancies now exist on the board of appeals, the board of assessment review, the board of ethics, the Commission on Cultural Development, the firearms discharge committee, the harbor committee, the Historic Preservation Commission, the Housing Authority Commission, the Mall-Marsh Commission, the parks and recreation advisory committee, the planning board, the recycling advisory committee, the tree board, and the Bangor Water District trustees.

Bangor residency is a requirement to serve on most boards. In most cases, each committee is tasked to study certain issues and provide recommendations to the City Council.

Anyone interested in any of these positions can call the city clerk’s office to request an application or visit the city’s Web site at, click on city government, city clerk and then volunteer boards.

Applications should be submitted as soon as possible to: City Clerk, 73 Harlow St., Bangor 04401.
