BELGRADE, Maine — The Kennebec County Sheriff’s office says it will conduct a “vehicle autopsy” to help it determine what might have caused a fatal crash in Belgrade.
Authorities say 30-year-old Jeremiah Baker was driving a 1999 Mercury Sable on Route 27 Wednesday evening when it went into the other lane and collided with a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by 31-year-old Jessica Bourget.
Baker was ejected from his vehicle and was declared dead at the scene. Bourget suffered a crushed ankle and broken leg.
Police say it’s believed excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
