Should Congress let states tax Internet sales?

Maine may be losing $20 million or more annually in sales tax from Internet sales. The federal government, most agree, would best be able to ensure that sales taxes are paid for such purchases. Is it time to work toward such a system? With Web purchases growing

each year, are governments losing out on essential revenue? Or are Internet sales somehow different, and exist more in cyberspace then in a state? Can the argument be made that fewer government services – roads, law enforcement, etc. – are consumed,
