BROOKS, Maine — Fire departments from surrounding communities arrived at a house fire on Moosehead Trail on Saturday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 4:10 p.m. and the small, wood-frame structure was in flames when firefighters arrived.

“It is pretty much flattened,” Monroe Fire Chief Keith Nealley said at the scene.

The home at 435 Moosehead Trail belonged to a member of the Cameron Paving Co. family and was located a short distance from the company’s garage on Route 7, which is about a quarter-mile from Country View Golf Club. The homeowner was away at the time.

The house was situated at the top of a hill, and flames and thick smoke could be seen from hillsides along Route 7.

Fire units from Monroe, Jackson, Thorndike and Waldo responded to a mutual aid call from Brooks Fire Department.
