BROOKS, Maine — Fire departments from surrounding communities responded to a house fire on Moosehead Trail Saturday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 4:10 p.m. and the small, wood frame structure was completely in flames when firefighters arrived.

“It is pretty much flattened,” Monroe Fire Chief Keith Nealley said at the scene.

The home at 435 Moosehead Trail belonged to a member of the Cameron Paving Co. family and was located a short distance from the company’s garage on Route 7, which is about a quarter mile from the Country View Golf Club. The homeowner was away from home at the time.

The house was situated at the top of a hill and flames and thick smoke could be seen from various hillsides along Route 7.

Responding to a mutual aid call from the Brooks Fire Department were fire units from Monroe, Jackson, Thorndike and Waldo.
