STEUBEN, Maine — Scott Willey, 40, of Mogadore Road, was arrested Tuesday morning after he allegedly assaulted his wife and then hid in his home, refusing to come outside when officers arrived.

Washington County Deputy Brandon Parker said officers from the Sheriff’s Department, the Maine State Police and the Milbridge Police Department surrounded the home, banging on doors and yelling through windows.

Willey’s wife and children had already fled the home, he said. The victim had facial injuries but did not require medical treatment, he said.

After about an hour, Parker said, Willey came to the door and said he had been sleeping.

He was arrested and charged with domestic assault, domestic terrorizing and obstruction of the reporting of a crime.

He was taken to Washington County Jail in Machias, where he remained Tuesday night.
