BAR HARBOR – Benjamin Monroe Britt, 20, died Dec. 12, 2009, in Trenton. He was born Oct. 16, 1989, in Bar Harbor, the son of Brenda (Parsons) Britt and Dorsey M. Britt Jr. Ben graduated from Connors and Emerson schools and also from Mount Desert Island High School in 2008, with plans to further his education. He worked in the summers for Testa’s Restaurant for four seasons and one season at Bar Harbor Inn as a dishwasher and prep cook. Ben enjoyed playing the guitar, painting, skateboarding and listening to a variety of different types of music. He was an avid reader and spent many hours communicating with friends on Facebook. Ben was a kind and caring person who would do anything for anyone he knew. All those that knew Ben loved him. Ben was very close to his grandparents, Gary and Mary Parsons, and spent a lot of time with them in his youth. He enjoyed participating in all the Parsons’ get-togethers, especially with Aunt Debbie, whom he had a special bond. Another special memory for Ben was the shopping trip that he took with Travis and Marianne for college. Ben spent time down at Swan Lake with Andy; his grandparents, Jim and Dawn Landry; and the Tripp family, all of whom he thought of as part of his own family. This special bond he had with his extended family led to many good times on Swan Lake. He enjoyed boating, tubing, water-skiing, swimming and the end of the summer parties. Ben enjoyed the travel he did to Aruba, California, Disney World and a very special trip he took with his father to the Bahamas, where he spent time with the Britt family. He loved his animals, and will be missed by his canine companions, Zoey and Danny. Ben is survived by his father, Dorsey M. Britt Jr.; his mother, Brenda (Parsons) Britt and partner, Tracey Landry, all of Bar Harbor; paternal grandfather, Dorsey M. Britt Sr. and companion, Kay Robinson, of Havelock, N.C.; extended grandparents, James and Dawn Landry and their son, Andrew, all of Frankfort; uncles, Donnie Parsons and partner, Kim Hamblen, Frank Britt and David Britt, both of New Jersey; aunts, Debbie Parsons and partner, Timothy Tripp, of Bar Harbor, and Mary Britt of South Carolina; special cousins, Makayla, Marcus, Race and Marina Parsons, and Travis Tripp and wife, Marianne and their son, Preston; and a special friend, Kelsey Erickson. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Gary and Mary Parsons; and uncle, Mark Parsons. Friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at St. Savior Episcopal Church, 41 Mount Desert St., Bar Harbor, with the Rev. Jonathan Appleyard officiating.
