BANGOR, Maine – Icy roads early Monday morning apparently caused an accident on the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 between the Broadway and Union Street exits that closed part of the highway and jammed traffic several miles.

The road was re-opened just after 10 a.m.

A dispatcher at the Maine State Police barracks in Orono said the accident involved several cars but there did not appear to be any serious injuries.

Traffic was backed up at one point to the Bangor Mall area exits.
