GARDINER, Maine — A Cumberland County Grand Jury has indicted the head of the home-repair business Rent-A-Husband, charging him with securities fraud, theft by deception and sale of unregistered securities.

Kaile Warren is charged in connection with the issuance of promissory notes by Warren and his Rent-a-Husband and KW Enterprises business.

The Rent-A-Husband business conceived by Warren has received national attention for its unique business model.

Maine securities officials say Warren is charged with creating the false impression that his company was financially sound in an attempt to raise funds for his business.

An e-mail message to Warren’s business was not immediately returned and there was no answer to a phone call to the company Friday afternoon.
