LILLIAN E. DEMERCHANT

PRESQUE ISLE – Lillian E. DeMerchant, 94, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, in Portage, with her family by her side. She was born Feb. 18, 1915, in Fall River, Mass., the daughter of Raymond and Lucy (Belanger) Daigle. Lillian was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She helped in supporting her family by working at Potato Service Inc. for 22 years. Lillian is survived by her four children, Clayton of Portage, Raymond “Earlin” of Presque Isle, Dalice Blanchard of Presque Isle and Lucille London of Zephyrhills, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Connie Soucy of Eagle Lake; a nephew, Roger Daigle of Washburn; and longtime friends, Helen Armstrong of Washburn and Violet Frazier of Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice DeMerchant. Friends may call noon until time of funeral service 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Aaron Damboise officiating.
