Basketball game to benefit food pantry

Bangor Daily News

PITTSFIELD, Maine — Organizers at Maine Central Institute hope a long-standing basketball rivalry will fuel an effort to collect food items for the Pittsfield Food Pantry.

Fans at a Dec. 18 basketball game between the rival Maine Central Institute Huskies and Nokomis Warriors are invited to donate nonperishable food items or money that will be collected by the MCI Student Council and girls basketball players. Those who bring food items will get reduced ticket prices, $2 for adults and $1 for students.

Donations should be given in honor of one of the 13 Husky players who will be at the door collecting donations. The goal is for each player to collect donations equal to his or her jersey number plus 10 percent.
