PORTLAND, Maine — A South Portland man is facing manslaughter and driving under the influence charges in connection with the death of a Deering High School student in September.

Twenty-one-year-old Yannick Mulongo was arrested Sunday after he attended a church service in Portland.

Police say Mulongo was driving on Sept. 20 when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle. The crash killed 18-year-old Guy Kitoko.

The Portland Press Herald says police were awaiting the results of their investigation before filing charges.

Mulongo is charged with manslaughter, elevated aggravated assault and operating under the influence.
