Mainers receiving military honors

TOPSHAM, Maine — Mainers who served in the military in four wars are receiving special state honors Sunday.

State of Maine Gold and Silver Star Honorable Service Medals are to be presented Sunday afternoon in Topsham to 19 veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the war on terrorism. Recipients include some who died in service, Purple Heart recipients and former prisoners of war.

Three of the veterans, from World War II, Korea and Vietnam, won’t be able to attend.
