MACHIAS, Maine — A last-minute notification of final figures on the county’s health insurance plan delayed adoption of the 2010 budget Thursday night.
County Manager Linda Pagels-Wentworth said Friday that the final numbers weren’t forwarded to the county commissioners’ office until 3:30 p.m.
“That was much too late and we felt uncomfortable adopting the budget at 4 p.m.,” she said.
A new final review has been set for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Before the final health insurance figures were changed or revised, the draft budget was a 1.2 percent decrease from 2009, and represented a $4.2 million tax levy.
