Between 4 p.m. Thursday and 10:30 a.m. Friday, Bangor residents had reported nine motor vehicle or home burglaries, according to the Penobscot Regional Communications Center law incident summary report.

“There was a rash of them reported on the east side last night,” Bangor police Lt. Steve Hunt said Friday. “People went through some cars and garages.”

The stolen items reported included iPods, change, a Buck knife and Leatherman tools, he said.

A Bangor man staying at the Ranger Inn apparently got so mad at a couple of women with him Wednesday that he decided to “basically barricade himself into the hotel room with the two women,” Lt. Steve Hunt said Friday.

The police report does not indicate why the man, who later was identified as Dana Kippen, 31, was angry at the women, he said.

One of the women managed to escape through a window of the hotel room and informed police of the situation.

After a short standoff, Kippen let the second woman go and was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, criminal restraining, possession of marijuana and refusing to submit to arrest, as well as on a warrant out of Washington County.

Kippen was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
