MARS HILL – Frances Edgecomb Lake, 87, died Dec. 1, 2009, at her residence. She was born May 5, 1922, in Limestone, the first child of Burnice and Janie (Burtchell) Edgecomb. She married Harry G. Lake, June 1, 1941, and he predeceased her July 4, 1983. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Beals and her husband, Donnie, of Blaine; a son, Larry Lake and his wife, Carol, of Westfield; a brother, Burnice Edgecomb and his wife, Betty, of Presque Isle; two sisters and their husbands, Stella and Edward Anderson of Fall River, Mass., and Gertrude and Ronald Boyd of Mars Hill; a grandson, Brian Beals; four granddaughters, Karen Tompkins, Andrea Pinette, Angela Lake and Kelly Dufour; one stepgranddaughter, Brandi Gifford; five great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two half sisters, Margaret Edgecomb Chase and Vivian Edgecomb; and two half brothers, Horace and Alton Edgecomb. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating. Interment will be at Kings Grove Cemetery, Mars Hill.
