DOVER, N.H. — A grand jury in southeastern New Hampshire has indicted a 20-year-old Rochester woman on a first-degree assault charge for allegedly pouring scalding water on a 4-month-old cousin she was baby sitting.

According to the indictment in Strafford County, Crystal Grant was giving Zoey Turner a bath in May when she poured the hot water on the baby girl more than once. Zoey was burned over 31 percent of her body and spent two weeks in intensive care and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Grant was initially charged in May. Foster’s Daily Democrat says she has been free on recognizance bail for several months.

She is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 7.
