How will the U.S. finally leave Afghanistan?

Tonight, President Barack Obama will speak to the nation about his long-awaited new strategy for Afghanistan. Is it essential that a viable exit strategy be part of the plan? Should that strategy include a timeline? If the U.S. withdraws troops within a year, what would be the worst that would happen? What can the U.S. do to ensure security in the

region without continuing to have tens of thousands of troops on the ground? Is it inevitable that Afghanistan will return to a divided nation, ruled by tribal warlords? Is it still essential that Osama bin Laden is captured?
